There is a special atmosphere in Nomads. It seems to collect all the calm, beauty and magic from far off places and somehow distil it into this one treasure trove of twinkly objects. It’s not just a shop, it’s an institution! The shop remains on the most beautiful street in Cambridge – humbly selling all these little secrets that Fin has been sourcing from across the globe since the 1970s. Incense and silver and shawls and shadow puppets… It’s a respite from the rest of the world. I swear my kilims from Nomads are somehow infused with the magic; they radiate serenity and beauty into my rooms. I urge everyone to buy a piece of Nomads beauty for their own home and then they’ll understand just what I mean! :)

When I arrived in Cambridge with my brother Johan, he told me that we were going to visit Nomads. I was very curieus because he was very enthusiastic about Nomads.
As soon as I entered Nomads there was a serene calm and a lovely scent of incense. The staff was helpful and very friendly. You can buy beautiful presents for your self or someone else, it is all high quality. If you ask advice they know exact what you want. I bought several things for my family in the Netherlands and They enjoy them very much. From the things I bought myself, I enjoy them every time. When I visit Cambridge again I certainly visit Nomads!
Hopefully it will be soon open again.

When I arrived in Cambridge for the fist time in 1989 I saw this shop. I really liked it a lot from the moment I entered the store. The lovely incense, good music and the staff was really very friendly and helpful. I remember I bought a beautiful coat that year from Peru. Top quality, still have it and wear it. And I bought very beautiful jewellery for my family. Jewellery you don’t see often for a very good price. And every time when I visit Cambridge, at least once a year I am going to Nomads buying new incense, my favourite is the coconut one and looking for other things I like, it is always a surprise.
Great atmosphere, hopefully it will be soon open again.

Nomads is without a doubt Cambridge’s most rare and heartwarmingly real place to shop and browse for beautiful, unique objects, fabrics and jewelry. Family run and full of charm, it’ll lift your spirits every time you enter. Support this local independent business as it really has stood the test of time, and been a steadfast staple for students, tourists and locals alike. A piece of quiet magic opposite Kings College.

Over the past 2 decades, Nomads has been my oasis. Lockdown may have kept me from physically being in the shop, but a little piece of that oasis is always possible when I place an order. Fin and his staff are wonderful. All I had to do was tell Fin that I was looking for a singing bowl and he picked out the perfect one for me. When you buy something for yourself or as a gift from Nomads, it is so much more than simply buying something… you end up with a treasure from a far away place, part of the atmosphere which is Nomads, and part of the lovely staff. It is no wonder that it has been a major part of Cambridge for so long! I cannot recommend Nomads enough.

Nomads is such a beautiful shop! The staff are super friendly and they play fabulous music which adds to the special atmosphere. The shop’s been much missed during lockdown but their click and collect service is great and they’ve been really helpful and flexible about pickup times.
