I also have 25 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, taking care of guests, and hearing their heartwarming stories.
Please think of me as your own personal coach, dear readers, encouraging you to look within, make your dreams come true, celebrate your life, create beauty all the way, and help heal the world! Thank you for joining me on this journey.
I offer a journal called, CHOICES FROM THE HEART, which can be started any day of the year. It has 12 chapters, corresponding to months, each with a theme and an exercise, as well as space for recording goals for that month. Each daily page, “Taking Small Steps Today,” is for planning and includes an inspirational quote. Throughout the journal these seven areas will be the focus for creating harmony: Spiritual, Friends & Family, Health & Fitness, Personal Goals, Career, financial, and Fun.
CHOICES FROM THE HEART, with its emphasis on happiness and joy enables you to:
. love your career and enjoy prioritizing your plans for the day
. discover, cherish, and share your gifts to help heal the world
. schedule quiet time every day for reflection and problem-solving
. create a vision board, daily affirmations, and inspiration to keep you on track
. experience success in all areas of your life every day
. realize the value of achieving goals by thinking big and taking small steps
I just ordered 10 copies of Choices from the Heart because I couldn’t wait to share with friends and family – Diane is amazing and her book is timely. We need to remember that positivity in life and self improvement from within allows others we come in contact with to feel the same way.

In Choices from the Heart, author Diane Hemmings highlights key aspects of genuine, lasting happiness and contentment. This journal allows readers to delve into 12 important life themes–one per month–and to reflect every day on major life areas such as spirituality, career, friends and family, and fun. By taking even a few moments to turn inward and reflect, following Hemmings’ gentle but powerful guidance, readers can develop a deeper and highly personal sense of purpose and meaning. In her introduction, Hemmings writes, “I like to think of Choices from the Heart as Actions from the heart.” I like this! The action piece is often missing from journals and other reflections. In her book, Hemmings encourages people to use their newfound meaning to take small action steps for true happiness. This journal is an asset to a life well-lived.
Choices from the Heart is a personal journal created to inspire and motivate individuals on a daily basis. It is designed to assist the user in outlining and achieving personal goals over the span of a year, doing it in a way that brings joy through achievement. This journal-style book includes inspirational quotes from many well-known individuals. Each chapter concentrates on a specific trait-twelve in all that correspond with each month of the year-including civility, love, beauty, happiness, courage, and so forth. It is a highly positive workbook.
I was delighted to receive a physical copy of this book; it is beautiful in appearance and well organized. The larger pages allow for plenty of writing (and drawing) space. I recommend using a physical copy of the book rather than a digital copy simply because it serves as a diary, and once complete, it can be referred to for future ambitions. This book would make a great gift for anyone struggling to achieve personal goals, for anyone making significant transitions in life, for anyone working toward greater joys in life, or for anyone who simply loves journaling. It is a lovely book.
Now, more than ever, the call to live with purpose and joy is being heard. We yearn to be happy, to be valued, to contribute. Through inspirational quotes and meaningful guidance, Diane Hemmings presents a journal that genuinely leads the reader to let go of fear and self-limiting beliefs, creating the platform to celebrate life, beauty, and even help heal the world.
My 30-year old daughter has been around my books, and her Grandfather’s, her entire life. She saw Choices From the Heart on my coffee table. She picked it up, thumbed through the pages, and said, “Can I have this book?” Best endorsement ever!

Not all structured journaling guides are created equal, and this seems to be one of the best. The focus on happiness and joy is very welcome, but this structure for journaling will also produce much more, as it focuses on ways to set goals (in a way that doesn’t get too “top heavy,” as many structures do) and on allowing oneself to dream the dreams that help us to identify goals we really want to pursue. I love the variety of quotes too. And I second what the previous reviewer wrote: I also have known Diane many years, and her joy and kindness are ever present. What she is offering to others she has lived herself.
Choices from the Heart provides me the necessary structure that other journals have lacked. Essays at the beginning of each chapter encourage the focus necessary for that topic, then the workbook pages provide guidance for my personal insights and challenges. This is going on my gift list for daughters and friends!
I absolutely love Choices from the Heart by Diane Hemmings. This journal is really making me reflect on the important aspects of every day living that I haven’t taken the time to realize, but now see how very important they are in my life and in achieving true happiness. In performing the exercises in this beautifully written book, I am truly beginning to see my own self as well as others in a different light and more clearly realizing my goals to lead myself toward a happier life. As I write my “baby steps” each day on the journaling pages, it is like seeing the bigger picture unfold before my eyes. I am beginning to realize how this will in turn make me a better person and have more joy not only in my own life but for others as well with what I hope to bring to them in these valuable lessons. I have already recommended Mrs. Hemmings journal to many family and friends.
This journal by Diane Hemmings couldn’t be more timely with the upheavals we are experiencing in these times of uncertainty and fear. She guides us in doing the things we always think we are going to do-beginning with meditation and learning to be present. We learn to take action each day, mapping out for ourselves ways to be joyful while being spiritual and kind. We are asked to get out our colored pencils to draw what we visualize for ourselves on a vision board. Wait! Colored pencils! We are adults! It’s very powerful as we become child-like dreaming of what our lives could be. She shares her personal journey from a low point in her life and a cancer diagnosis, researching dozens of books about healing and overcoming fear. I have known Diane for over 40 years and have never known anyone who brings more positiveness and joy to a room. She is kind and generous to everyone including her readers. Believe me–it will rub off on you. Follow along and I guarantee you will be more mindful and kinder and generous than you thought possible. When she tells you she is an expert on happiness, you will believe her.
